Discovery & Design Experience (Ages 10-12)

Mountain Laurel Discovery & Design Experiences are two-week specialty sessions created specifically for youth ages 10-12 who are ready to explore new interests, develop practical skills, and engage in meaningful hands-on learning.

Each two-week session offers an immersive experience centered around a unique area of discovery. Participants work alongside experienced Waldorf instructors, explore ideas through creative projects and activities, and have the opportunity to develop skills, confidence, and independence in a supportive environment. Themes may draw from the arts, nature, traditional crafts, outdoor exploration, practical skills, storytelling, creative expression, and other engaging areas of study. Each experience is designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and a deeper connection to the world around us.

Unlike our weekly Summer Program offerings for younger children, Discovery & Design Experiences are designed as complete two-week sessions, allowing participants the time and space to fully engage with the subject matter, complete meaningful projects, and build lasting friendships.

Participants may register for either session individually or enroll in both experiences for an extended summer adventure.

Specific themes and instructors will be announced in the Spring! 

AFTERCARE REGISTRATION

Aftercare registration will be available starting January 1. 

CONSIDERING ATTENDING MOUNTAIN LAUREL?

Families registered for Discovery & Design Experiences will have the $100 application fee waived when applying for admission to Mountain Laurel Waldorf School for the 2026-2027 or 2027-2028 school year.

SIBLING DISCOUNT

First youth is full price. Second and all additional youth will receive a 10% discount.

Additional Notes About Discovery & Design Experiences

Immersive Experience
Discovery & Design Experiences are designed to provide authentic, hands-on, immersive opportunities. Depending on the theme, participants may work with age-appropriate tools, equipment, art materials, cooking ingredients, and other project-based resources under close adult supervision. Specific activities and materials will vary by session and will be shared with registered families prior to the start of the program. 

Snack & Lunch
Please pack a healthy snack and lunch each day. Mountain Laurel does not provide any food for the program. If registering for the Aftercare program, please be sure to include an additional snack.

Outdoor Program

The Mountain Laurel Summer Program focuses most activities outdoors. Please be prepared for the youth to play outdoors, even in inclement weather, including hot weather and rainy weather. Please be sure to provide the youth with full rain gear on rainy days, and a dry change of clothes if needed.

Waldorf Summer Program

The Mountain Laurel Summer Program is hosted by the Mountain Laurel Waldorf School. Our lead and assistant instructors are teachers, alumni, and close friends of the Mountain Laurel community. Changes to Dates

Requests to transfer or reschedule a registration from one session to another are subject to availability. An administrative processing fee will be charged for each change made.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations and refunds are based on the date of the cancellation request received in relation to the weekly program start date. All refunds are calculated based on the registration total.

Up to 8 Weeks Prior to Program Start Date: Full Refund less $100 administrative fee per cancellation

4 to 8 Weeks Prior to Program Start Date: 50% Refund

11 to 30 Days Prior to Program Start Date: 25% Refund

6 to 10 Days Prior to Program Start Date: 10% Refund

Up to 5 Days Prior to Program Start Date: No Refunds Provided

Payment is Final

All registrations are considered final once payment has been submitted. Discount codes, promotions, coupons, or special offers must be applied at the time of original registration and cannot be added, adjusted, credited, refunded, or applied retroactively after checkout for any reason, including newly released or newly discovered promotions. No additional discounts, refunds, credits, or pricing adjustments will be issued after payment is completed. Student, employee, and other discounts are not applicable until March 2.
